OUR ROOMS
From a cosy table for two to a wedding for a hundred guests, D'Swarte Walvis (The Black Whale) has a room for every occasion. Each space has its own character and its own piece of history, from blue tiled walls to wooden beams and windows overlooking the windmills.
All rooms come with catering tailored to your plans, from coffee and cake to a full dinner. We happily arrange audiovisual equipment and decoration through our trusted partners, and outside our regular opening hours we open on request.

Our most spectacular room. Under the wooden beams of the Vleethuis, the old whalers' warehouse, the windows open up to the skyline of windmills along the Zaan. The room is named after the commandeur, the captain of a whaling ship. Perfect for wedding dinners, banquets, celebrations and meetings with a view nobody will forget. 9 to 50 guests. First floor, not accessible by wheelchair.

Blue and white tiles from floor to ceiling: this is where the orphan masters (weesmeesters) once met. Spacious and full of character, it's made for receptions, banquets, presentations and wedding dinners that people will talk about for years. 40 to 100 guests. First floor, not accessible by wheelchair.

THE REGENTS' ROOM
Regentenkamer
In this intimate room in the former orphanage, the regents who ran it once held their meetings. Today it's the perfect setting for a private lunch or dinner, a board meeting or a small family celebration, with a view of the windmills. Close the doors and the room is all yours. Up to 14 guests.
