Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to enjoy D'Swarte Walvis (The Black Whale), online and in our restaurant.
Our website. We aim for our website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1, level AA) as much as possible. We use clear headings, descriptive image texts and sufficient colour contrast, and the site works with keyboard navigation and screen readers. Some parts come from external partners, such as our online reservation system and our event request form, and may not fully meet these guidelines.
Our building. D'Swarte Walvis is a monumental building on the Zaanse Schans. The restaurant, The Orangery (Serre), The Whalers' Bar ('t Vleethuis) and Terrace on the Zaan are on the ground floor. The ground floor is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet. The Delft Blue Room (Weesmeesterkamer) and the Windmill Panorama Room (Commandeurskamer) are on the first floor and can only be reached by stairs; the building has no lift. Assistance dogs are welcome.
